This is Zandkasteel, Amsterdam Zuidoost. It was designed with one radical idea: that a building should support the wellbeing people inside it. No straight lines, no right angles. Not in the layout and neither in the facade. Because straight lines are efficient, but they’re not alive. This building moves like a river. Every turn… a new perspective. That’s not just architecture. That’s a philosophy. Graziëlla Hunsel Rivero came to me with a vision. Not just a venue. A stage…for talent that Amsterdam has been sitting on for decades. Zuidoost is full of artists. Full of musicians. Full of people with something to say. They just haven’t always had somewhere to say it. That’s what ZOJAZZ STAGE is. A home. Built by the community. For the community. Jazz was born from improvisation… from people finding beauty inside limitation. This space carries that same DNA.
